No. 1 Trinity Gets 20th Win of Season

Mr. Basketball Candidate Dieudonne Nets Third 20+ Point Outing in Four Games

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity recorded its 20th win of the season in a 66-55 victory over Christian Academy at Steinhauser Gymnasium on the campus of Trinity High School.

With the win, Trinity reached the 20-win plateau for the 12th time in program history. It is the fourth consecutive season and the sixth time during the 11-year Mike Szabo era that Trinity has reached the 20-win mark.

It is also the fourth consecutive season that Trinity has reached the 20-win mark during the regular season and the sixth time since the 2004-2005 season. Szabo is the only coach in program history to lead the program to 20 wins during the regular season, having now accomplished the feat six times. Trinity won a program record 26 regular season games in 2004-2005, 25 games in 2009-2010, 21 games in 2010-2011 and 20 games in 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 previously.

Kentucky Mr. Basketball candidate Nathan Dieudonne, a Boston University signee, scored at least 20 points for the third time in four games, finishing with a career best 22 points. He added eight karams.

Trinity has now won 15 of its last 16 games. Trinity has won 33 of its last 38 regular season games. The Shamrocks finished the month of January with a 10-1 record and improved to 26-2 in the month of January over the last three years with the win over the Centurions.

Trinity returns to the court on Friday when it travels to Owensboro to face Daviess County. It is the final road game of the regular season for the Shamrocks before playing its final five games of the season in the friendly confines of Steinhauser Gymnasium. The remaining home schedule includes matchups against Atherton (Feb. 7), Lafayette (Feb. 10), Central (Feb. 11), Elizabethtown (Feb. 14, Senior Night) and Jeffersonville (IN) (Feb. 17).
