Ballard blows out Eastern 85-65
By: Steve Ludden
The Ballard Bruins traveled to Eastern High School for a seventh region showdown. The Bruins came ready to play jumping out to an early 8-0 lead on the inside play of Kelan Martin and Aaron Murray. After some sloppy ball handling and some run out layups, Ballard had pushed the lead up to a 17-4 first quarter advantage. The Bruins never looked back forcing 13 first half turnovers and stretching the score with Lavone Holland, Martin , and Murray combining for 30 points giving them a 42-19 lead at the break.
The second half the Eagles responded by cutting the the lead down to 13 before Quentin Snider took control. In the fourth quarter Snider went on to drop nine points in about a span of a minute to erase any doubt of the Ballard victory. Snider finished up with 19 points while Holland added 18 for Bruins. Ballard shot 55.2% for the game and forced 20 Eagles turnovers. Ballard moves to 20-6 on the season and will travel to play Jeffersontown on Monday. Eastern drops to 14-12 and ends their five game winning streak. The Eagles host a tough Scott County team on Tuesday.
